There are a lot of homes on the market right now but one thing I have noticed at every price point & in every Denver neighborhood is the lack of well-cared for homes available for sale. Lately I have been taking a few differ families out to see homes for sale and of the 10 homes we view only 2 looked as if any effort was put into making the place look sharp. One can only imagine how the owners cared for those homes over the years.
When marketing your home for sale it is absolutely essential that you pay extra attention to the exterior of the house, afterall this is a potential buyer’s fist impression of the house they may soon call home. Getting the exterior of the house in prime shape will interest more buyers and allow you to market your home for top dollar.
The Door. The front step & door are key, the buyers spend a few moments here while their agent gets the key so they have so time to glance around.
- Replace the front doorknob and locks
- Buy a new doormat
- Add a vivid pot of flowers on the porch
- Replace old bulbs in exterior lighting
- Remove cobwebs and clean dirty siding/bricks
- Clean windows inside and out
- Replace house numbers, ensure they are visible from the street
- Hide garden tools and cluttering toys
- Trim & edge the yard
- Cut back all shrubs & bushes
- Remove stains in the drive & repair cracks
These simple steps will give a homeowner more enjoyment out of their own home and attract more home buyers. By implementing these simple steps a home seller won’t have any buyers slowing down to park then quickly drive away without getting out of the car.

Vali: this is super advice. I do think that people get so used to walking past all of their little projects that they don’t even notice them anymore. this is the perfect time of year to begin sprucing up the exterior.
