Art Eclectic

As a new month rolls around so does First Friday at Santa Fe Art District with an edgy variety of art mediums. Art Eclectic is a show that runs March 6-23 that features the work of local artist, Sharon McEachern. McEachern’s work is anything but ordinary as she displays her diversified talent through countless art mediums.
“In ‘Art Eclectic,’ Artist Sharon McEachern culls the best from a variety of art mediums, combining elements from mixed media, collage, and her own style of acrylic “pointillism.” She draws upon multiple processes and styles, to synthesize her own. The show also includes 3-D pieces “The Tiny Tim Traveling Cake Pan” and “The Over-Protective Mother,” in which a mother and her two small children are all swaddled in strips of white cloth, as are the toys with which they play. The mother’s anxiety over protecting her children from even a scratch shows the irony of attempted perfection, which results in mummification of the parent and children. This “let live or die” theme illustrates McEachern’s often irreverent style, combined with her humorous and poignant edge, regardless of the medium.”
Sharon McEachern’s talent will be featured until March 23rd at CORE stop by this month and see for yourself. Looking for something to do this weekend? Here’s your instant gratification – visit Core New Art Space this First Friday during the Art Walk (Friday, March 7th) or Saturday, March 8th which is the Artists’ Reception. The Reception is where you can drop in, sip wine and meet the artists from 6-9 PM.

I love the CORE gallery. The art there is always cutting-edge, fresh. And, Artist Sharon McEachern is wonderful! Her art is often humorous and confrontational. She makes you pay attention and her stuff is always fun, whether by her “eclectic” choice of medium OR message.
